My sister found this and I HAD to share it
with the world...see a similarity? *g*
And in the same spirit...
Four football fans go
rock climbing one afternoon, an Alabama fan, a Kentucky fan, a Tennessee fan, and a
Florida fan. They had been arguing all the way up the mountain about who among
them was the most die-hard" fan. Upon reaching the top of the mountain,
the Kentucky fan proclaimed to the other four..."This is for the Wildcats!" and
promptly threw himself off the mountain as a form of sacrifice. Not to be
outdone by a Kentucky fan, the Alabama fan jumped up and said..."This is for the
Crimson Tide!" and then threw himself off the mountain, again as a form
of sacrifice.
Refusing to be outdone by the Kentucky and Alabama fans, the Tennessee fan rose
to his feet and yelled at the top of his lungs: "This is for the Volunteers!"
and without any hesitation, pushed the Gator fan off the mountain.
Knoxville Named Best College Football
Sports City by The
Sporting News
Knoxville, Tennessee
On many a Saturday in the fall, more than
100,000 of the Tennessee football team's
closest friends squeeze into Neyland Stadium.
And given the Volunteers' home attendance
numbers in their national-championship season,
those folks had better be close friends with
each other, too.
Average attendance at Tennessee's six homes
games in 1998 was 106,914. That's impressive
turned out and out Orange-clad crazy when you
consider that Neyland Stadium seats 102,544.
The math: The Vols played to 104 percent
capacity at the second-largest college stadium in America (only Michigan's
expanded stadium seats more).
Add to that a national title in one of the games most appealing settings
and you've got a what Tennessee fans have come to expect and demand
from Knoxville's home team:
Well, I went to
school at UTK, graduated from there, and follow the Vols all year long...so with all my
other pages it's about time I did one dedicated to the best college football team around.
