5-30-08 Well last night was weird. I was out on the back deck calling Heidi the dog in...and all the sudden there was a huge crack and boom. After I quit ducking I stood up to find one of the Bradford Pear trees in the backyard had split apart! No warning..no wind..no rain...just boom and it was gone! Reason number one not to plant this tree. Our yard is full of them and they are probably about 18 years old. About 12 more to go!
|
Moral of this story? Don't plant Bradford Pear Trees!! |

Heidi doing her best to keep Tom away from us. No turkey was harmed in the taking of this photo or Heidi jumping on him. To the contrary! He would never back down, hence he has gone to live at another farm with his little woman. We never left Heidi alone with him and she never got him down. I want to stress that. But wanted to post this to let people know turkeys, esp. Toms, CAN be aggressive birds! Thankfully Tom never had very big spurs. He was probably a little over a year old and about 20#+ when he left the farm. Big enough to knock my 2 year old son to the ground and scratch up his back pretty bad. |

This is Susie...that is NOT her baby. I was milking Susie and bottle feeding Thunder. Decided to cut out the middle man..or woman in my case..and after 2 days of holding her Susie took to him like he was her own! We called him the boy with two mommies! He is sold now..so back to milking her I go! |

My sons first haircut. The first thing my daughter said was "Mom, he looks like a boy!" First thing he said when he was shown himself in the mirror was "daddy!" |
